Taking care of your Badinage bag

Our bags are handcrafted from genuine leathers selected for their look and quality. Leather is a living natural material.

The years at your side will give your handbag a unique patina, reflecting the moments of complicity shared. Our Sirinda Mini and Floria Mini models are in smooth leather . Our Ivia crossbody handbag and our two tote bags are made from slightly firmer and more durable grained leather. To take care of your BADINAGE bag and preserve its beauty, follow our advice.

How to take care of your leather bag?

  • Leather is an organic material. To avoid wear and the appearance of marks, be careful. Pay particular attention to your jewelry and metal parts that can mark the leather. To maintain and take care of your leather bag, use a soft cloth reserved for this purpose.
  • Avoid exposing your bag to water, a direct heat source (such as a radiator or hairdryer) or intense light which could alter the color of the leather. Perfumes, oils, sunscreen and cosmetics are not kind to leather, avoid putting your bag in contact with these substances. Do not use hydroalcoholic gel on your bag, these substances have a very abrasive effect on leather. If it gets wet, dry your bag and its metal parts, only using a soft, dry cloth, before storing it in its organic cotton pouch.
  • The leathers of our women's bags have been treated in our workshop. It is therefore not necessary to waterproof them at the start of your life together. After 4 to 6 months at your side, you can proceed with their waterproofing treatment by purchasing a suitable leather goods product. Repeat this treatment every year.
  • Your favorite bag deserves a vacation too. Store your BADINAGE bag in its soft organic cotton protective pouch away from dust and humidity when you are not using it. Be sure to maintain the shape of your designer handbags by filling them with tissue paper.

How to clean your handbag and revive the shine of the leather?

    • For the linings and suede parts of your designer handbag, be careful. Be careful not to expose these surfaces to dark textiles that may bleed or bleed. For suede-lined pockets and storage, normal wear may be caused by repeated rubbing of the hand. Brushing will restore the leather to its natural appearance. We advise you to use a soft brush for suede and nubuck.
    • To take care of the metalwork and jewelry finishes of your BADINAGE women's handbag, do not use any spray or cleaning product. A clean, soft cloth will revive the shine of these stainless metal elements.
    • To clean your handbag, fade a mark, remove a scratch or simply moisturize the leather, get a special colorless, non-greasy leather milk sold in shoe repair shops and specialized stores. Test the product first on an inconspicuous part. A small amount is enough to revive the shine of the leather by circularly massaging your bag using a soft textile. Let your leather bag air dry before storing it in its BADINAGE protective cover in certified organic cotton.
    • If a stain has appeared on the cotton canvas lining of your bag, apply a fabric stain remover locally. If it is too extensive, entrust your bag to a specialist leather goods cleaning service.
